VIP Tutorial 12/11/2017 - Three General Questions About Playing Piano
This is the full-length video for the following VIP MasterClass Series tutorial:
Week of December 11, 2017 - Three general questions about piano
Q1: How do you suggest students to assess if they are ready to play a certain piece?
Q2: What are the pieces that you think every student should consider learning, why, and at about what stage of their piano studies? For example, many pianists from Beethoven to Oscar Peterson had their students learn Bach's WTK. Since most of us do not have the time or inclination to learn all 24 preludes and fugues, what would you suggest with Bach and beyond?
Q3: I have never played a concerto, nor do I have an orchestra, but I would love to learn the Prokofiev concerto #2. Can you walk us through how we would learn something like this and ideas on how to include the orchestra part?
